Hi! My name is De’Myla Brown and I am currently at junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My major is journalism with emphasis on sports broadcasting in the College of Media! Being a student-athlete in college has its challenges, but with the support of the un...iversity I am able to maintain good grades while performing on the basketball court. When I visited campus this past summer, the friendly feel and campus town style allowed me to immediately feel welcomed and like I was apart of the student body in such a short amount of time! Although COVID-19 has effected many opportunities to get out and be social on campus, we are still given options to be in clubs, have meetings, and still be able to meet new people. Being apart of the women’s basketball team here has made the transition a bit smoother, but I have no doubt there will be opportunities for you too! On top of that, the safety and protection throughout this pandemic has been very thorough and effective. Free on campus testing, contact-tracing apps, and providing N-95 masks for its student body. Choosing a university can be very stressful and scary at times, but having someone to look to and get advice from is the best path to making the right decision!
