I am a senior at Harvard University studying mathematics with a secondary in Government. When choosing between colleges, I was picking between Harvard, West Point, and a full-ride scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill. I decided to attend Harvard because of the quality of the student b...ody, access to the most influential professors and researchers in the world, the close relationship between Harvard and MIT, and the freedom I was offered as a student. On campus, I served as a student advisor, was an associate editor of the Undergraduate Law Review, and am an active member of the men's rugby team. Since coming to college, I have conducted professional research in statistics and higher education, I interned at the Legal Aid of North Carolina, and am now working in finance and will continue to do so after I graduate. I am offering a comprehensive overview of my experiences at Harvard, ranging from how to write a strong and compelling college application, what freshman through senior year is like, and how Harvard influenced my academic, professional, and personal life. I entered college with the intention to study philosophy, so I also offer discussion about why I decided to study mathematics, the doors this has opened in my life, and the thought-process I used to decide my major.
