I am a senior Environmental Engineering student at UC Riverside. As a first generation college student, I want to demystify everything I can about the college process for incoming undergraduates. I have worked on-campus at the Academic Resource Center as a peer mentor for the la...st two years. I am the incoming president of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) at UC Riverside where I previously served as the Academic Chair. Our club provides opportunities for engineering students to tour facilities, meet professionals in industry, and advance academically and professionally through a series of workshops and general meetings. I have completed one internship in a joint collaboration between the Environmental Protection Agency and the City of Riverside. I was tasked on a food recovery technology project centered around composting and anaerobic digestion. This previous quarter I participated in an air pollution research project with two UC Riverside graduate students where we measured ozone exposure levels of various locations throughout Riverside, compiled the data in MATLAB, and wrote a research paper. I am a former Highlander Early Start Academy student. HESA is a 7-week intensive summer bridge program at UC Riverside that gives incoming freshman the opportunity to earn up to 9-10 units before starting their Fall quarter.
